Toronto Raptors beat the Sacramento Kings 118-113

The Raptors improved to 3-1 on their Western road trip with a win over the Kings Sunday night.

Playing their second game in three days the Raptors were able to squeeze out the win over a young Kings team.

With the win the Raptors extend their lead over the Boston Celtics for second in the Eastern Conference.

Led by Norman Powell and Kyle Lowry the Raptors shot 39% from beyond the arc, lifting Toronto to victory.

Powell would lead the Raptors in scoring finishing with 31 points and 5 assists.

Powell has played very well since returning from injury, assuming the starting position for the injured Fred VanFleet.

Kyle Lowry also had a strong game for Toronto finishing the contest with 30 points 8 assists and 5 rebounds.

Top scorer for Sacramento was De’Aaron Fox who had a team leading 28 points adding 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

Some good news for Toronto in the game as the team welcomed back centre Marc Gasol.

Gasol has missed a number of games this season with a hamstring injury.

Toronto’s Fred VanFleet has also been out with injury. The team released yesterday that Freddy should be back in action later this week.

The Raptors were dominated on the glass against the Kings Sunday being out-rebounded 50-36 while giving up 10 offensive rebounds.

Sacramento would also out score Toronto in the paint 60-36.

The difference Sunday came from behind the three point line.

Toronto shot 39% from three making 19 of their 48 attempts, while the Kings shot just 25% making just 8 of their 31 attempts.

The Raptors will have a short turnaround as they will now head to Utah to take on the Jazz on Monday night.

This will be quite the test for Toronto as they must play the playoff bound Jazz at home on a back to back.
