Tampa Bay Rays 6, Toronto Blue Jays 4
Bo Bichette enjoyed an exciting homecoming as he scored two home runs for the Toronto Blue Jays in Tampa in front of his family with his high school in the looming distance. However, his efforts weren’t followed up by the rest of his teammates as the Jays fell to a 6-4 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays.
However, Austin Meadows homered off Buddy Boshers to lead off the seventh for a 5-4 lead. Before, adding an RBI double during the eighth against Ryan Tepera.
Meanwhile, Meadows also broke a tie in a 2-0 win over Baltimore in Tuesday’s doubleheader nightcap.
Bichette had his second multi-homer game for the Jays. But, Toronto have now lost four straight and 13 of their past 16. Regrettably, the Blue Jays are on a pace for 99 losses this season.
Bichette homered in a 13-pitch at-bat leading off the first and tied the score 4-4 with a two-run drive during the seventh off Oliver Drake.
Meanwhile, Emilio Pagan allowed a double to Reese McGuire during the ninth and walked Derek Fisher. Before getting a fielder’s choice grounder from Bichette and retiring Cavan Biggio on a game-ending fly-out with runners at the corners. This meant that Pagan got his 18th save of the season.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rolled to his right on a nifty slide to complete a two-out triple during the first and reduced the Blue Jays deficit to 3-2 with an RBI single during the sixth innings.
